Barcelona at Christmas time.  The giant noodles are part of the city's Christmas lights: a soup with this particular type of noodle  pasta (galet) is part of the Catalonian   tradition, and it is served on Christmas Eve.  As you can see, the galets rest on the street...

Since I didn't have any picture in my archives to fit both themes  I had to act quickly, balancing my camera in one hand and a mirror in the other. But I still couldn't do my beautiful amaryllis justice.

I remembered this picture from my archives for the themes, I added a  bit of editing  just for fun. This picture was taken at a marina, sailing boats are missing from the shot but their masts are reflected on the water.

Street and sport

A street in Briançon from my archives, a few days before the Tour de France passed through. Note the reference to the green, polka dot, and yellow jerseys! (colors are explained here) The tour will begin this year on July 5th in Leeds, I will be for sure watching the stages as I love the aerial views, it's sightseeing from my comfortable sofa.  I must insert here that I don't enjoy riding a bike myself. I have watched the tour live on the street in several ocassions while on summer holidays in France: it was fun and exciting but... the bike riders went by way too fast!

Birds and trees are lovely subject of photography. However, I don't seem to photograph birds well and therefore I couldn't find a suitable picture in my archives for this week's themes. Creativity was demanded and this is the first of several pictures I took of the same subject. Sometimes the first try is the best one! Pictured is my white "bird" and a mulberry tree with new branches from my garden. Background: An olive tree  and pine trees: Mediterranean vegetation!

I was in Southern Chile last January at a beautiful lake, but my focus was on this gorgeous aloe vera bloom maybe because of the late summer, late afternoon light. I don't own any pets, it is always a treat to be able to  photograph animals. I found this deluxe cat in a crafts market in Santiago, Chile last month. He was allowed to nap among the ceramic figurines in a shop. A unique sight, I thought.

Ski trails are lined up by poles like this one, found on each side. They are meant for orientation, so you don't unwillingly end up  skiing off-piste. Only the poles on the right side of the trail are painted in bright colours on top, so as to guide your way down the trail in case of bad weather  (fog!!).  I am a sunny skier and don't go out unless the weather plays along,

Pictured is a traditional Catalan bursting correfoc  (literally "fire-runs") a striking feature of local festivals. This one is the fire dragon of our suburb, setting  off  fireworks among crowds of spectators. There are no cars to be seen as they are supposed to park far away for safety reasons, therefore no car detail (this is a stretch, I know, I had a difficult time trying to combine this week's themes)

I ran into this amazing and neat window display of my favorite fruit in Barcelona. I do not know what it should represent, but it looked fantastic to me. The big challenge was to avoid my own reflection on the glass window...

Examples of cutlery found in a garage sale, maybe. This belongs to the La Jardin project , a  Santiago de Chile part of  British artist Tony Hornecker's The Pale Blue (pop-up!) Restaurant  initiative. Decorated with recycled materials only, meaning mismatched, salvaged furniture and quirky junk! (reposted for my own convenience...) I visited this project in early 2013, it was a real feast for the eyes, I simply loved it because there was so much to look at. The food was also very good. It has been such a success, that the project found a place to stay much longer than the 6 months initially planned.

A different classic car to zip around town. Seen at a small French place near the Pyrenees, you couldn't miss it! The proud owner came by right after I took the picture, which allowed for a nice chat...about his car.
