1572

sepia scenes
Scene from la Petite France in Strasbourg, taken about two months ago. As stated at the entrance, this building has been there for a long time, click here for a colorful and current picture. The sepia effect was applied using free software from the net. Upload, select sepia effect, save.

La Maison des Tanneurs, also known as "Gerwerstub", was built in 1572. Formerly a tannery - it became a restaurant in 1949 and was restored in 1972 for its 4th century anniversary. From their website.

This picture was taken two years ago, but the sepia effect reminds me of old Italian films.

panellets

These are Panellets (Catalan for little breads) in their original coloring, which looks like a sepia scene to me, no need to edit the picture! This round pastry is a bit smaller than a golf ball, and made out of ground almonds , sugar, and eggs. The most popular ones are the pictured pine nuts panellets, but there are other toppings like chopped almonds, shredded chocolate, or shredded coconut.

You can currently find them in almost any bakery or supermarket, as they are the traditional dessert of the All Saints holiday in Catalonia - accompanied by a sweet, aged white wine - during the celebration of the CastaƱada (Chestnut festival).

let down your hair

... and let your prince climb up to you!! This is the Rapunzel tower at the castle park in Ludwigsburg, I saw it when I went to see the pumpkin exhibition . To re-read the fairy tale click here or here. Don't forget to leave a comment and may we all live happily ever after.

Updated after the third comment, joining Sepia Scenes, check out the link !! Here's the same picture after a bit of sepia treatment, to add a bit of visual romanticism, like in the old times...
