a trip in pics (4)

This is a known handicraft village (see this site). The official name of the place is actually Los Graneros del Alba, but it is known as Los Dominicos because it is located next to a colonial church (see top picture) left as legacy to the Dominican Order in the early 1800's.

It is the most picturesque handicraft's village in Santiago even for those who are not looking for any handicraft: there are many stalls and shops, a couple of small cafés, flower shops, pet shops and live (guitar) music during the day every so often. It's a nice place to walk around leaving behind the city's noise and speed... Although Santiago (a city of 6 Mio) is almost empty as many people are away on vacation and it is therefore very pleasant in that sense ...

  1. This looks like a GREAT place to find all sorts of special gifts for people as well as 'gifts' for yourself...! Where is it that everyone goes when they leave Santiago for vacation?

I did love when you said you were looking at The Pacific Ocean...I realize you are many thousands of miles South of where I am, but, at least we are on the same coast...lol!

re: museum picture books...I've never reproduced any of the pictures from them...it's just a way to preserve the memories of the visit. I feel they're worth the cost.
We just had the Titanic Artifact exhibit here and I got the book for it, they had a lot of very interesting info that I missed while looking at everything.
