a trip in pics (2)

This is the view from my sister's appartment (13th floor) with a view of the Manquehue hill, which is 1.640 m/5300ft high and a popular trekking place in Santiago, which in turn has an elevation of 530 m/1.700 ft .
Manquehue means "place of condors", and comes from the Mapuche (Indian) words manque, which means condor, and hue, which means place.

I have posted this pic before, it was taken during a past visit but the view hasn't changed! Pls note the beautiful blue/purple jacaranda trees, they are all over the city. I have been busy catching up with little time for new pictures but this will change asap, stay tuned for more!

  1. I love views. So many people take for granted the beauty around them. Your sister is so lucky to have this splendid view from her home!

  3. oh I want some of those trees! hee hee I'm sure that I couldn't get them to grow here even if I could talk the government into letting them in. Those are pretty though.

Love your shot! I bet that hillside looks great when the trees are all in bloom.

  15. I LOVE Jacaranda Treees, Mar....We have them here and there are just a couple of weeks in the spring when they are in full bloom..Then those BEAUTIFUL lavender blossoms cover the sidewalks and roads like a lovely blanket---and then, it is over for another year, I am sorry to say! I thought this picture looked familiar....But it is GREAT to see it once again!
