day 12: sunday post...

I very seldom blog on sundays but it is NaBloPoMo! Thanks so much for your fashion comments on friday's post, I was particularly pleased to have two gents' opinions! And the fashion advice seems to be : When in doubt, go for overdressed, like Wanderlust said it. Only Wanderlust doesn't have a public profile and I cannot find her/his blog! If you know it, pls let me know.

There were only three ladies and we all wore dressy black pants! and a matching blazer or a silky blouse. I have a little black dress in my wardrobe but I avoid wearing it since I don't feel comfortable wearing a dress and I can't stand wearing a pantyhose! Lucky me, pants are widely accepted in Spain .

One dressy accessoir for special occasions but mainly in Southern Spain (which I didn't wear this time but want to mention here) is the so-called Manton de Manila, Manila shawl, as pictured below on the left (copyrighted pic, oh well!) Since I am not particularly fond of wearing too many colours I chose mine to be blue, as pictured below on the right, a souvenir from Seville. It is a soft, silky , huge shawl and I will be wearing it to a wedding next march. Maybe I will even post a picture then! find out tomorrow why the name of the shawl... one tip: it doesn't come from the Philippines. Happy sunday!

  1. I'm sure that you looked great. My advice for what it is worth is to always go for the look that you feel most comfortable in as that's the only way to enjoy an evening. You can't enjoy if you are feeling uncomfortable. By comfortable / uncomfortable I of course don't mean if it fits or not :-)

By the way here from Michele's.

  3. Nice threads. You've got me curious about the name off the shawl now - guess I'm off to Wikipedia to do research.

  6. I love the shawls. Beautiful. My daughter always tells me I dress bland and she is right. I tend not to be floral or patterned. I go for plain colors. But I do like that black shawl on the left. Oh to be more wild and crazy and adventurous when I dress! LOL

  10. Well... they are both beautiful! (and I read every word!) I was thinking the name might have something to do with a mantilla? Maybe a "body mantilla"??? No? Well... I'll be back tomorrow to find out! :)
