Day 3: the Moselle river

Day 3 of our 10-day Germany trip in September with a rental black M*ini (it wasn't pink, Horsoon!) found us  in Longuich, right by the Moselle river . This is the  first picture I took of the river (click to enlarge, see the sign?? Mosel) , from the bridge  during our short walk after breakfast, with vinyards in the background. And a nice statue, which I forgot to photograph more closely...



On our way to Bernkastel-Kues (next post!) we just had to stop to take a look inside the Festzelt (party tent).  Little did I know I was going to find huge yellow decorations there:



The banners hanging from the ceiling displayed quotes related to wine, and wine tasting,  the first one reads something like  "God didn't want the good wine to go to waste, that's why he gave us thirst "...oh, well, it rhymes in German!

And we also found a  cute little guy for  Blue Monday.

    The vineyards are pretty well manicured to be on a hill. I'm glad the balloons were yellow for you but I can't help thinking in their grape cluster form that they should have been purple and gre
    I love the little 'cherub' looking statue!

    Ah yes ! the Winzerfests starts everywhere now ! Isn't that a beautiful place along the Mosel ?

    I think cooking is in the family. My grandma was a professional cook, I loved to cook, my mother's siter too and Mr. G. at the beginning of our marriage showed me how to cook, I couldn't cook, lol !

    I reckon that prince of the Church is blessing the vineyards (either that, or he's carefully checking out the state of his grapes through alorgnette!). Gorgeous pic: I've never been to the Mosel region, so this is a treat for an armchair traveller!
    Those balloons in the marquee are lovely - and the quote's absolutely right. I love that cherub, who wards off the blue(s). Thank you, Mar, Gute Reise - chuss!
