idioms: I and J

It's time for Jientje's A Thousand words in Idioms. "The idea is to pick an idiom, or a saying, (even slang is allowed) and illustrate it with a picture. Each week we'll cover two letters of the alphabet". Here are my choices, pulled -again- -from the archives. Which means idioms are carefully selected to match my pictures... although it seems the meme is intended the other way around, bear with me!

If you'll pardon my French
(UK) This idiom is used as a way of apologising for swearing.

Jack Frost
If everything has frozen in winter, then Jack Frost has visited.

  2. Here in America we leave the politeness off that first one and just say, "Pardon my French". P or I -- I never could have come up with a photo for it, so you did great!

And Jack Frost must surely have lost that tennis match as many times as he touched that net!

  5. LOL! I really think it can be played either way -- I can just NEVER think of any idioms to match what I already have! I MUST create.

These are wonderful! Only the well traveled blogger can come up with Greek to me, AND If you'll pardon my French! Those idioms would NEVER come from me!

  6. Great job with the idioms. Back when I knew how to swear in French I would say pardon my french and start swearing in French. I guess that turned an idiom around into a literal introduction to my profanity, ha. I have forgotten most of my school girl French, including how to swear in it.

That first picture reminds me of the fact that I will be packing my suitcases in three weeks, Provence here I come!!

So...in other words, YOU pick the idioms or sland or expressions, as long as the begin with the letter...and then find pictures to fit the ones you picked?? Interesting challange!
