It's time for Jientje's A Thousand words in Idioms. "The idea is to pick an idiom, or a saying, ( even slang is allowed) and illustrate it with a picture. Each week we'll cover two letters of the alphabet". Here are my choices, pulled from the archives: shadows on "my" beach after a storm and cristal clear Alpine mountain water.
Something or someone that casts a long shadow has considerable influence on other people or events.
Dip your toes in the water
If you dip your toes in the water, you try something tentatively because you are not sure whether it will work or not.
a thousand words in idioms is hosted by Jientje.
The photo of the shadow and reflection inthe water - good.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is true - shadow has influes on others.
/Maria Berg,

Excellent idioms and your photos are tremendous. Great job :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I have been dipping my toes in the water by launching this challenge, but you cannot believe how much fun I'm having, and how much I'm learning through all of you!! Very well done!!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO MUCH for playing, I KNEW you were going to be great with this, I just KNEW!!
The water feels great by the way!!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are PERFECT, but aren't they always? I think they are!!
Come on in, the water's fine! Yours looks crisp, cool and refreshing! Great pics (as usual) and they do a wonderful job illustrating your idioms.
ReplyDeleteCoffee! Coffee! How come neither of us found a coffee idiom for C? LOL! I had not heard of your C idiom before! I like that! And I wish MY toes were in that water...
ReplyDelete... cream please?
WOW! As usually - I LOVE your photos. Thanks for introducing this MEME. I will play as soon as the move will be finished.

Wir ziehen heute um, darum werde ich leider für einige Wochen kein Internet haben. Ich hab zwar keine Ahnung, wie ich ohne blogs und facebook leben soll, aber ich versuch's :-)
Ich freu mich schon, mit einem lauten "WOOT WOOT" zurück zu kommen :-)
Good ones!
ReplyDeleteNice findings ! Only I never dip my toes, I put my feet splash in the water, lol !
ReplyDeletevery cute! love the dipping of the toes.
ReplyDeleteI love your photographic illustrations of the idioms. Great idea for a challenge. I always enjoy seeing what you do with these challenges. Every time I see one that you are doing I think, oh that would be a fun one, and then I think that I am probably not quick minded enough to rise to the challenge. Maybe one will come along that I'll dip my feet in and test the waters of my fading brain, ha.
ReplyDeleteA FUN idea and you picked some great Pictures, dear Mar!
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic photos. I look forward to seeing more.
