The house is quiet again, visitors left, and it's time for some coffee and a few shots from the recent vacation. (Updated to answer Melli: pictured below is an innocent cafe au lait, which I had already starting drinking when I thought of my camera! I always order some water with my coffee...and that's what it is in the Ricard bottle !
Before we reached the Alpine region we drove by the wonderful Ardeche river (125 km/78 miles long) and watched the canoes under the Pont d'Arc, a great natural bridge which is 60 m/ almost 200 ft wide and 45 m/ 147 ft high, it was carved out by the Ardèche River. More about it here.
A useful map can be found here. Next stop: the Alps!
I think I'm going to like this trip :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat is IN that cup? I think it may be too early in the morning for it! I'll tell ya this... had I come across the Pont d'Arc I might have been tempted to set up camp and forget the Alps! But that's me... you know ... WATER is my draw!
ReplyDeleteI reallyprefer the Alps in summer ! These pictures are beautiful. It looks much nicer when the landscape has colors and is not only in white ! (see, I hate winter !) So you drink water with your coffee strange enough in a Ricard bottle, lol !
ReplyDeleteI love the natural bridge. That is truly spectacular!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos of beautiful scenery! :) It's a shame that pic cannot convey the feeling of being there as I expect it was breathtaking :)
ReplyDeleteWow, the scenery is incredible. I like the way you shot it to from different angles.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery! It reminds me of some places in WV and VA; especially the large bend in the river.
ReplyDeleteMar, These are gorgeous. I Want to go therE!
ReplyDeleteThat looks a lot like the Grand Canyon in Arizona here in the states. And I love the natural bridge...that is just too awesome Mar!!
ReplyDeletewow, truly incredible scenery! the natural arc and the canyons look spectacular, and a latte is a great way to start a journey :)
ReplyDeleteFirst thought was that the Cafe Au lait looked so charming and inviting since visiting such cafés is one of my favourite things! Then I saw the rest of the pictures...and oyyyyyyy that is one beautiful view you have there!! Wow! Looks marvelous!

ReplyDeleteThe views are great. I enlarged the pictures and they were really nice. I could see like what it seems like people canoing in the last picture :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been way too long since I've been here!! The photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMar,
ReplyDeletewill you believe it. We have gone down the Ardeche River several times, both day trips and 2 days trips. It's gorgeous. So says our kids too.
Absolutely recomended. Start from Valle Pont d'Arc and go down (one day means hard work) if you stay overnight on one of the two legal bivuacs, you can really enjoy the river, the gorge and the whole atmosphere.
Thanks for sharing these photos. So many good memories come alive when I looked on them.
