land in sight

Even sailors love to go for walks when the shoreline shows such an inviting village. This one is Cadaques, made famous by former inhabitants Salvador Dali and his friend Picasso, among others. The sun was shining when we arrived early in the afternoon.

But first there was the obligatory and much deserved swim. The captain went in first, to test the water temperature and to check the anchor.

The clouds arrived quickly after that. The temperature dropped a bit and it was very pleasant to go out and explore the village. Along the promenade we found a reproduction of Salvador Dali's "Cadaques" painted in the 1920's , where one can still identify the local church, which now displays a tall tree up front:

Although it might look photoshopped, the pic below hasn't been re-touched!

There were tall bougainvilleas all over the place!

and interesting architecture as well:

Last, but not least, we saw the Salvador Dali statue in the village, which in turn might qualify for the Project Black , what do you think??

  14. Gorgeous place, but what I love most is the statue of Dali. I love the way he is leaning on thin air. It almost does his genius justice. Lovely post.
