and yet more blooms!

More on my yucca, which I found out is a yucca shigidera, also called mojave yucca...I also found some shots here, since my camera won't take any more pictures until I take it to be repaired...which is under guarantee but it's still annoying, the camera is only 8 months old. These pictures were the last ones my camera accepted to take. Maybe it's striking because of work overload!!

I find my yucca in bloom just fascinating and beautiful, particularly because it doesn't happen every year (last time it was 2 years ago). I can watch the blooms very closely since it is planted one floor below -I live on a hill and my home has different levels - and I have therefore open access to them, I can even touch the bell-like flowers. Here's the view from below:

And other shots of such beautiful excess of clustered blooms, I simply can't get enough of this... although they don't have a scent. And thank you for the kind welcoming comments!!!

  1. I agree your Yucca flower is beautiful, but I would like to hear something about your holidays in the Alps !
Of course you could go to such a summer school ! If you have the wish then you are already an artist ! a tax inspector certainly doesn't want to go to such a school, lol !

  3. I never realized that Yucca can grow sO big! WOW! My neighbor has one of their driveways (yes - they have TWO!) lined with Yucca - on both sides! But theirs have been there for 20 years and are still only about 18 inches tall - so I guess they are a different species! Theirs flower white also - but not NEARLY so many flowers! Your yucca is AMAZING! I love your cacti too!

  4. I've never seen Yucca in bloom before. It's very pretty. I guess that's why folks would choose to plant Yucca...I never understood that before. LOL

  6. That is a very healthy looking yucca plant with a beautiful bunch of flowers. They are a bit less generous with their bounty in the wild. Probably from lack of water.

I'd like to see more shots of your land scaping. These few were very intriguing.

  8. Oh I sooo understand how you feel Mar,,,there is something so magical about these Desert type plants when they Flower. I believe These Yuccas bloom every two years on a regular basis....The blossoms are just BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE that you can get so close to these lovely lovely shaped flowers....As I told you...the similar type of Yucca is on all the Hillsides here...but too far away for me to get any Macro shots....!

I hope to have a new post up by late late tonight--tomorrow, really..and it is some close shots of Succulents and their flowers, too....

That is a drag that your Camera is "sickly" already....I hope they can fix it quickly and that it is nothing horribly serious. It helps that it is still under warrenty, doesn't it?

  9. Those are wonderful shots Mar. All of them are great but the one looking down is especially appealing to me. I'm so sorry to hear about your camera. That must be frustrating.
