de·li·cious
–adjective 1. highly pleasing to the senses, esp. to taste or smell: a delicious dinner; a delicious aroma.
It sounds so easy and yet it was very hard for me to choose one picture for the theme... I settled for a recent one: a delicious tarte aux myrtilles (blueberry tart), Mr 19's very favorite in France, a must during skiing days. See the both of us reflected on his ski goggles as he takes the picture. More holiday shots in the prior post... stay tuned for even more snow pics !
PS: Tomorrow night is the big night in Spain for young children and not-so-young children, as the Three Wise Men will arrive bearing presents, but not for the Mar household . The legend tells of the Three Wise Men traveling through Spain on their way to Bethlehem and so they are present all over the country, they arrive by boat at the waterfront of Barcelona ! Street parades are prepared, floats are ready, candy and sweets will be thrown from the floats to the children lining the route (watch out for the hard candy, it is not fun when they hit your head! it happened to me once, now I know better but we don't go to the parade anymore...) Finally, the Three Kings will deliver presents at midnight (some stores have open until midnight for late shoppers!) and the big sales begin on Monday, when the children go back to school.
Mmm, sounds so yummy and looks delicious, too!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy tomorrow night!

ReplyDeletehappy Weekend!
I see Mr 19 has inherited his mum's good taste!
ReplyDeleteI researched the Three Kings:
The Three Kings
The best-loved tradition among kids during Spanish Christmas is the Three Kings. Santa Claus is quite well-known, and he delivers toys and presents, but the real stars are the Three Kings. These Three Kings are the ones who followed a star to meet the new King of Kings and offered him three presents: gold, frankincense and myrrh to the newborn child in Belén (Bethelem).
When December comes, in Spain and Latin America all the boys and girls start to write their letter to the Three Kings or to their favourite King: Melchor, Gaspar or Baltasar. They write about the things they'd like to receive on the morning of the 6th of January, and also about their behaviour during the year.
Their Majesties travel by camel and due to the fact that they come from the East, they take a long time to arrive in Spain. When they are here, they visit all the cities and villages, and hear the kids' requests, after a spectacular parade. On the night of the 5th, the kids put their shoes in front of the door before going to bed so that the Kings will know how many children live there. They also put out something to eat and drink Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar, and water and grass for their camels (true, they can last a month or more without drinking water, but that night they have a lot of work to do, so they need extra water and food).
On the morning of the 6th, people find their presents inside and outside the shoes (it's very unusual for their Majesties bring coal-carbones-because no child really behaves so badly, and many people say it's not true that naughty girls and boys get only coal and no toys). The food and drink has gone from the plates and glasses, and the camels have quenched their thirst. The children start playing with their toys, waiting for the next 5th of January to come around.
Sounds good.... :-)

Great shot. have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
ReplyDeleteWe celebrate the Three Wise Men on the 6th as well. We NEVER GOT presents though. Just a nice cake and the one who had the king in on the inside was KING FOR THE DAY!!!
Mar, what a clever shot! Artfully designed! Yes the Epiphany is January 6th. Enjoy the celebration! :)
ReplyDeleteI am right WITH Mr. 19!!! A blueberry tart would be MY preference too! YUM!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the Epiphany is bigger in Spain than Christmas! In the U.S. all we do (SOME people - not me) is take DOWN the decorations. (I think SOME do have a gift or two - but it is verrrrrrrrry rare)
miam! Delicious! I'm sure this dessert is simply delicious! And if you eat it after a lot of sport at mountain!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait these three kings!
Balthazar, Melchior and... don't remember!
