Since architecture was the theme for the photo hunt on Saturday, I remembered some pictures I would like to share. I live in a city strongly influenced by an extraordinary architect: Antoni Gaudi. His buildings are known worldwide and included in every Barcelona tourist guide. But there is a lot more to his creative work. Among other things he designed the paving tiles of a main boulevard, Passeig de Gracia, pictured below (sorry they are not very clean, I saw that afterwards...!) :
The so-called Gaudi tile (designed in 1904) is a great example of the way the architect worked, combining the geometrical and the symbolic, imitating the morphologies of nature. They are very distinctive of this walking zone and so beautiful, a local jeweler decided to honor the architect and made the below pictured silver earrings, which happen to be mine :)
I love Gaudi's work - so unusual and striking to see. I have long wanted to visit Barcelona and see some of it. Your earrings are wonderful and so like his tiles.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting and unique. Your earrings definitely match that style!
ReplyDeleteI think I told you before, I've never been to Spain, but one of my daughter's has and she raves about it! She was fortunate to be able to spend 4 months there on an exchange program. She came back a changed woman! Now I just sit back and watch her go!!
Ooooo! I like those stones - and those earrings! Lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully designed earrings.
ReplyDeleteCheers to your week!
I first thought you had put a picture of laces, it could be. He really was a genius, there is nothing else to say. Unfortunately when I had been in Barcelona I was more interested in other things than pavements ! But the earrings, they would suit my ears too !
ReplyDeleteI have always been interested in Gaudi, adn when my daughter went to Barcelona for the Oylmpics, she took photos I loved. I have not seen the tiles, though, and they are wonderful! I want those earrings, Mar!
