vacation memories

I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since I got back from Chile. One day my sister took us (niece and my parents) 45 minutes away from the city towards the Andes where she knew a perfect place for a picnic lunch. The place was wonderfully quiet and the surroundings just beautiful.

I loved this little round cloud against the blue summer sky.

A short walk through a trail allowed us to find a quince tree.

and here is a closer picture of the fruit. Have you ever tried them?

There were lemon trees along the trail too, and figs:

I just love the bright sunlight of summertime, the heat, the dry air, they are wonderful memories. And last, but not least, here is a pic of the picnic, you are just missing something in between but you get the picture!! the pink little person is my 9 yo darling niece!

  3. Lovely lovely pictures! Almost too lovely, they make me wanna grab my travelbag and go there NOW! *S*

Love the little cloud. I like that kind of pictures.

And the quince - it's called Kvitten (I looked it up) here in Sweden, though I had never seen or heard anything about it before! Very interesting.

    *dreaming me there....*

    *sigh*

  4. That is a beautiful country. I can't imagine being able to pick lemons off of a tree.

You can't get maple syrup? Email me your shipping address: I'd be more than happy to send some! People should not have to live without maple!

  6. I love that cloud too. I've never tasted quince...or kumquat...the kind of jam my friend from Cedar Key gave me. Lots of people are or have been on vacation in February!

  7. Lovely lovely pictures Mar. I cannot belive the quality of light in them but that might be because it is so grey and dull in the UK at the moment. I love the cactus in the first pic. I have them in my home but it is far too cold to grow them outdoors here!

Your pics are making me want to see Chile for myself!

  10. I ate quince as a child...haven't had it since, and will have to look for it at the grocery store.

These pictures are beautiful: I so totally want to get out of town now. You always inspire us with your view of the world. I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip, and am even happier that you've shared the richness of it with us. Thanks!

  11. ROFL! That is quite an exceptional picnic picture! For a minute when I saw the first picture, I thought I was at Naomi's house! But I don't think she has any 'quince' in her yard... and no... I never have tried it - what does it taste like? I don't care much for figs... but the quince looks fruity! Sort of like a peach? Very beautiful photos! I really MUST get to Chile... in winter... I mean Summer! (in January!) LOL!
