To combine current events: Happy 4th of july and happy World Cup game. Tonight: Germany vs Italy at 9pm CEST . Tomorrow: France vs Portugal, same time. These are the semi-finals. Next (last games) are scheduled for saturday and sunday. Oh, I need another cup of coffee...and strong nerves!
I thought about updating at cocktail hour when I will have had enough coffee and diet coke. But maybe you can tell me now: what's your favorite drink? fave cocktail? (quick recipes are welcome!)
Update: Germany 0- Italy 2...the dream is over but not the World Cup!!! such is soccer, such is life :(
Oh, well. Let's see what tomorrow brings. The name of the game is Portugal-France!!! place your bids!
Everyone will think you are super cool if you make Chocolate Martinis for them (especially at a certain Desserts Only Birthday party.)
ReplyDeleteThey are sooo easy. 2 parts vanilla vodka, one part chocolate liquor. Throw in that silver thingie with ice and shake it up baby.
(Sometimes I make it the other way around when I need more chocolate and less kick.)
I like the chocolate cream liquor, there is also a Godiva Chocolate one that is clearer in color and gives a less milky looking drink.
I like to drop a Hersey's Kiss or a Mint Chocolate Swizzel Stick in.
Ohhh la la.
Michele sent me. Happy 4th.
tonight and tomorrow night i will be glued to the square box in the living room watching the matches.
ReplyDeletegreat idea to ask for fave cocktails. as you can imagine i love my coffee and i love all liqueurs that go with coffee. so here is one i luuuuuuv!
1/2 oz Tia Maria® coffee liqueur
1/2 oz rum
coffee (as much as you want)
1 1/2 oz whipped cream
for a summer twist, you can blend some ice cubes in before you set in the cream.
Oh, favorite drink... I go through phases... right now it is a toss up, but I think it is the diet peach tea!
ReplyDeleteBut my favorite drink is a Margarita... that doesn't change very often!! I like the citrus!!
Stopping by via Michele to say Hello!!!
Happy 4th of July!!!
where Mar? where is the cup with the name? i am blind blind blind! :D
ReplyDeleteThe thing I drink the most of is black decaf coffee. The coctails I like best are Bloody Mary's or Margaritas - but I never make them, so I don't know the recipes.
ReplyDeleteI hope your favorite teams do well in the games, Mar. Michele sent me.
We'll be watching...
ReplyDeleteFavorite drinks? Mimosa - yummmm

ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July!!!!! and thanks for the comment in my blog, we've decided to get back together and tried one more time! hugs
I'm already preparing for these games, especially tomorrow since I'm portuguese. Gotta root for my country :)
ReplyDeleteI can't begin to tell you how nice it is to see someone else loving the World Cup :)
My favorite drink right now is Diet Coke, but for that special kick I drink Southern Comfort and Coke, OR Kahlua and Milk (just because it tastes good and I can drink a couple without feeling like I'm getting drunk LOL)
Thanks for the Independence Day Greeting, Mar...
ReplyDeleteJust how often does this World Cup Thingy Happen????
I cannot believe it goes on so long....? I'm sure if I was deeply interested in it I would be thrilled that it goes on so long...But everytime I think it's over....there are more matches!! BUT it does sound like it is winding down or I shoud say Winding Up! (lol) I take it you would like Germany to win?? Yes? I'm sorry to be so lame about this...But that Button for Germany that you have on your post made me think that Germany had won the whole thing....I was wrong, I guess! (LOL) OY!
So, in other words it wil all be over by the end of this coming weekend, right?
Getting ready to watch the first semi-final here now! Let's see how it goes!
ReplyDeleteHi from Michele this 4th of July
ReplyDeleteMy favorite drink: Iced Tea
My favorite cocktail: Margarita on the rocks or dark deep ruby red dry wine
green tea with splenda and ice.
ReplyDeletegood match - Germ and It.
looks like penalty kicks
Back again, Mar, via Michele. I went to a movie this afternoon - the barbecuing comes later!
ReplyDeleteHere from Michele.
ReplyDeleteSince I don't drink alcohol, here's a soothing drink from my mom's generation. She always made a "Black Cow". Basically it is a Dr. Pepper float, two scoops of vanilla ice cream with a cold Dr. Pepper poured on top.
Aranciata is good. :) Also Bailey's, by itself or in other things...
ReplyDeleteHello from Michele's!
Like Lisa there I love Chocolate Martinis!! Yummy! But right now my favorite since it's summer, is Mojitos!
ReplyDelete1.5 oz BACARDI Rum
12 fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 lime
7 oz club soda
2 tbsp. simple syrup
(or 4 tsp. sugar)
Gently crush mint leaves and lightly squeeze lime in a cool tall glass. Pour sweet syrup to cover and fill glass with ice. Add Bacardi Rum, club soda, and stir your emerging mojito well. Garnish with a lime wedge and a few sprigs of mint.
These are so good.....I mean really good!!!! Had two last night matter of fact! ;)
BTW: I'm not a big soccer fan, but my son got me watching the World Cup, it is very interesting!!! I kinda like it!
Sad that Germany just lost, but I was blessed to see the game live here in the USA.
ReplyDeleteI am proud of the German team. They made it very far, no one thought they would - except the fans.
Viva Germany!!!!
Now I am rooting for Portugal to win against France tomorrow night.
Oh - btw - I don't have a fav cocktail...sorry. But I would love to sit right now in a German biergarden and have a draft :)...
ReplyDeleteHmm, so wondering who the Pope supported thus evening?
ReplyDeleteOh goodness... I do sO little drinking -- and usually just a margarita or a pina colada when I do.... sorry. I WILL bet on Portugal though! (or should I bet on France?) ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July to you.
ReplyDeleteMy WW is up.
Thank you for your birthday wishes over on my blog :=)
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Portugal VS France tonight, and I'd like France to win, buuuuut I think Portugal migh just have the edge.

We were so sad at the end of the game. With a Grandfather from Germany with a last name like Prussmann, I was indeed, rooting for Germany!
ReplyDeleteWatched yesterday's match. Will be watching today's match... Brazil and Germany are out... so that leaves the last team on my list... Portugal... hope they make it to the finals!
