We all know the benefits of using olive oil but did you ever think of having it for breakfast? I didn't until I came to Spain and watched them pour some over a piece of bread, instead of using margarine or butter. Breakfast buffet at the hotel in Seville included tiny bottles of olive oil for individual use next to marmalade and butter, as pictured below. Use a good olive oil, it is very tasty!
Love good olive oil on bread with a dash of salt. Or feta cheese dribbled with olive oil and a sprinkling of oregano. Yes, for breakfast!! (Greek heritage, what can I say!)
ReplyDeleteHere from Michele's today.
Sounds yummy. I'm all about olive oil and seasonings with bread, but never thought of it for breakfast!
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me.
Here from Michele's and I do agree with you on Olive Oil.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds delicious! Although...I'm not sure I could manage the richness of Olive Oli in the morning. Though, it would depend on the Olive Oil, wouldn't it? (lol)
ReplyDeleteHere from Michele this A.M.
Sounds like Seville was wonderful and tasty, too.
OOLH: what are you doing up? lol! It is almost 2 am your time!
ReplyDeletecool... in italy as an apitizer they give you a clove of galic and olive oil with a small bowl of diced tomatoes for what is called in french dont know the name in tialian as a bagueete
ReplyDeleteoh fogot to say... the galic is peeled and cut in half you add a dab of oil to your bread then rub the galic on it not put it rub it then add tomatoes
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm
I first saw oil on bread at an Italian restaurant. What a treat!
ReplyDeleteNovember Rain: interesting! I thought it was a Spanish specialty, they do it here too. You rub the tomatoes, only the juice gets to the bread. I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's called pan tomaquet in Catalonia!
Hello again, thanks for visiting. I do a lot of cooking with olive oil but never thought of using it instead of margarine/butter. Maybe I'll try it, can't hurt can it lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's better w/warm bread. Romano's Macaroni Grill (an american restaurant chain) serves their bread with olive oil.
ReplyDeleteNever knew that. Another additional knowledge. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I could stomach olive oil for breakfast, but I like it on bread at dinner. :)
ReplyDeleteYummy yummy!!
ReplyDeleteAnd good for you, too!

Great idea! I love olive oil on bread. Of course I like parm cheese, garlic and Italian seasonings mixed into the oil to dip!
ReplyDeleteI love olive oil! I use it all the time, now I will have to try it for my breakfast toast!!
ReplyDeleteWell, not sure about using it on toast instead of butter in the morning, but I love a good bread with virgin olive oil, cracked pepper and kosher salt. Very tasty.
ReplyDeleteHi from Michele's!
Never tried it for breakfast, but olive oil and balsamic vinegar with dinner bread can be fun.
