Very , very old license plate (estimated 50 years old!) as seen this morning at a Barcelona park. The "E" stands for EspaƱa or Spain! The new plates have 4 digits and 3 letters and the European stars are part of them. Quite boring the old license plate design, the old VW was what caught my attention here and enabled my participation on this week's PH, didn't have anything otherwise. Straight out of the camera, I might edit it later to blur the license plate...should I? to protect the innocents??
Cool shot and interesting about the changes in the license plate design. Here so many people have vanity plates but I've never bothered with it, especially since you have to pay to get special letters of your own choice. I just go with the random ones I get without paying extra. I don't think you need to blur the letters but I'm the same way in terms of thinking about stuff like that. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you have to blur the letters these days with Google Earth etc if it is outside there is no privacy anymore. Great find for the theme :)
ReplyDeleteI wondered about all this since I used my own license plates today. Could someone find me, track me down. At least I didn't take it outside my own house.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you Mar.
Love this picture. When they switched to the new numbering system there was a lot of complaining since you would no longer know where someone is from. I think the CR in your photo means that the vehicle was registered in Ciudad Real.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a real classic car. Are re the blurring of the license plate: ya, I wonder too about privacy issues with regards to prominently displaying a photo of someone else's car... but will keep the photo I have up for this week's Photo Hunt as is unless the car's owner complains.
ReplyDeletelet's hope the car owner doesn't read this post. if one feels exposed or invaded, there's a privacy issue.
ReplyDeleteOh so cool one. Happy hunting...
ReplyDeleteI love old Volks; we had a 1963 model.
ReplyDeleteWith the boring licence plates in Belgium (white with red letters and numbers) I finally found also an old car I had spotted in Italy!
ReplyDeleteWas quiet a difficult theme this time !
Blurr the licence plate ? why I wouldn't take the time to find out to whom belongs the car ...
An incredible plate! It almost seems unreal!
ReplyDeleteWOW - that is a very old license - good capture for this week's theme.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Love the shot. And since it's outside in a public place, so no harm in showing it here too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting plate!
ReplyDeleteI think if people want to keep their license plates secret they need to keep their cars parked inside their closed garages. :))
Oh Mar....is anyone innocent these days? I just had to add that comment. You know me. But really, that old VW would have caught my attention also.
ReplyDeletehow incredible that this is still running around. for me, i'd blur the plate once this theme is over.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of blurring a license.... and I'm sitting here wondering why would anyone care? I guess "bugs" VW catches a lot of people's eyes ... as I've seen quite a few of those cars today. Your photo and post are very interesting. Perfect for the theme!
ReplyDeletevintage VW catches my attention, too. neat find!
ReplyDeletecool car, i love it! I love the fact that it is green too. I thought this bus is no longer used...*wink
ReplyDeleteMine is Here.
That is one cool antique! My Dad owned one of these old VW too. :)
ReplyDeleteIf the plate is that old, then isn't it already history?

It used to be that our license plates were changed every year. Now, some of them are so old that you can't even read the number any more. Especially here in Canada where the salt used in the winter eats into the metal.
ReplyDeleteTwo or the ones in the photo in my post are a little older than 50 years...

I had no idea the plates could last so long.
