Clear skies over the North Sea in Germany. The seagull is on top of a traditional beach chair, which is also pictured in the post below and is profesionally described here. The history is told here.
I love this shot Mar. Looks like the gull was posing just for you. I looked at your post under this and also love the full view of the traditional beach chair. I like the way they have built in shade.
My German pen pal sent me a photo of her and a friend in a similar chair (back in the 50's). I wonder why the chairs are so brightly pattered inside? It seems that relaxation might be better served if the linings were cool blues and greens.
I remember those chairs... That's a great shot of the seagull - but I wish him LOTS of luck soaring like an EAGLE!!! Still... they are pretty in flight too!
that's a cute picture and a very interesting history about the beach chair. Nevertheless I have never seen a single one in the European countries I know (and I guess besides the North I know them all) and in other parts of the world neither. For the Belgian coast they would be ideal, but they don't know them apparently.
Great S.W.F. photo, the bird looks huge hehe:). If your interested check out my new photo challenge website www.weekdayphotos.com, its different...every day has its own theme with a different challenge every week, and the website design is unique! Thanks for sharing the story of the North Sea beach chair!!! It was the first time I hear about and found the story of it very interesting! Now when I'll visit Germany I won't be surprise seeing them along the beaches!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely capture Mar. love the shot of seagull with the combination of brilliant blue sky.
ReplyDeleteOn German beaches the 'beach baskets' (literal translation) are necessary, they give you a little protection from the wind.
