While numismatists are often characterized as students or collectors of coins, the discipline also includes the broader study of money and other payment media used to resolve debts and the exchange of goods.

Here's an old French coin I bought at a flea market last summer for less than 1 euro (just for fun, I am not a numismatic...) The background is a 20-euro bill.
What an interesting post for the day! Love the coin! Hope you have a great week, Mar!

Maybe this is the beginning of a new interest ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like the juxtaposition of the coin and the bill - very interesting! Thanks, too, for visiting and commenting on my "n" post!
ReplyDeleteWell you've got me there too because I'd never heard of numismatic. ...Learn something new each week. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like your original post for N. I will bet no one else uses that word.

I don't collect coins, but I do have quite a collection of ones I found. Old English ones, recent French ones and several others. I love them!
ReplyDeleteWow! NEVER heard that word before but like how you've used it here.
ReplyDeleteNUMISMATICS! certainly a new for to me.Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood word! You should be on Jeopardy!
ReplyDeleteCool. I like the hole in the coin. You can wear it as jewelry.
ReplyDeleteThe composition of this post is pretty neat, too. The paper money back ground contrasting two types of money plus old and new.
Coins have always fascinated me. I LOVE this one. It has so much character!
ReplyDeleteThat is nice one. I love collecting coins.

ReplyDeleteI think I remember that one. We had a similar one in Belgium when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful way to measure time. Please have a wonderful Wednesday.

You could make that into an interesting piece of jewellery, especially since it already has the hole through the centre!
ReplyDeleteOh wow now I knew what it calls to people who collect coins, a numismatic! Thanks for the info!
