It's time for Jientje's A Thousand words in Idioms. "The idea is to pick an idiom, or a saying, (even slang is allowed) and illustrate it with a picture. Each week we'll cover two letters of the alphabet". Here are my choices, pulled -again- -from the archives. Which means idioms are carefully selected to match my pictures... I guess the meme is intended the other way around, bear with me!
Greek to me
If you don't understand something, it's all Greek to you.
(it's the way I felt in Athens...)
Have a heart
If someone has a heart, they are kind and sympathetic. If you say, 'Have a heart' to someone, you are asking them to be understanding and sympathetic.
Tagged! Thom tagged me with the following meme: 6 unimportant things that make me happy. Thank you, Thom, I haven't been tagged in a while, that's probably because I follow my own rules :)
Here is how it works. 1) mention the person who tagged you. Well, that was Thom.
2) THE list: 6 unimportant things that make me happy
Since I am a visual person, I need pictures for my list:
Hearts. Heart-shaped items | Wild flowers |Dark chocolate|
Coffee with a friend| Candles|Playing with my camera: self-portrait.
Coffee with a friend| Candles|Playing with my camera: self-portrait.
As usual I am skipping the last part, which is to tag 6 people. Consider yourself tagged if you'd like to play along and let us know about it in the comments. It's wonderful to remember that small things can make a big difference!
And I have a heart for you and your photography Mar!! I love your choices, and I love the way you handled the meme from Thom too, just wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI think you and me are much the same, you're a visual person, so am I, and the things YOU like are my favourites too!!
About that camera, no, it hasn't arrived yet, it's out of stock at Canon, and it's going to take a small miracle to get it this week I think. There's a long weekend ahead, so ...
We bought the Canon SX10 IS, and if you're interested, there's a review here, and there is even a video review in there.

Wonderful ATWII this week. As usual your pictures make the idiom come to life and that much better. Very much enjoyed this. I really enjoyed the H. What a great way to show your unimportant things :) Aloha my friend
ReplyDeleteYour idiom choices were great. I like the little wooden hearts and I had already noticed your fondness for all things heart.
ReplyDeleteYour response to Thom's tag was perfect -- especially the photo collage. I have a heart for dandelions and am glad one got such a special showcase!
Love the meme and response to Thom's tag! Greek is scary when you don't know it! I can speak a little Greek but reading it is almost impossible still, maybe by the time I leave in October I'll have a grasp on it!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done! I love your post. Have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteIdioms are very interesting, as they said a lots of a nations culture, nature and traditions.
ReplyDeleteIt's Greek for me, yes, It's Greek for Norwegians as well.
Have a Heart, we say Have a Heart for.
Here is an example related to local animals
English: Don't count your Chickens before they are hatched
French: Don't sell the bears fur until it's killed (shot we say in Norway)
I only understand chinese in your greek ! Love the little wooden hearts.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you like and I am happy that you didn't tag me, lol !
Ahhhhh! So I see I've been doing it ALL backwards! It never occurred to me to look through my archives and come up with idioms to match my pictures! Actually - in my little pea-brain that seems a MUCH harder task than trying to get a goose to come examine a chicken! LOL! Both of your idioms are fabulous this week... and you "just happened" to have a picture of GREEK! (this is the problem with MY archives...)
ReplyDeleteLoved your little meme too! I might do that one!
Awesome! I love your pictures. Your phrases are wonderful and I love your answers.
ReplyDeleteAll of a sudden, Greek makes sense to me :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat post. The idioms and photos are very well matched... I love the Greek sign for 'it's all Greek to me', lol.
