I never knew that. What a beautiful shot. However, I love to eat artichokes so if I ever grew them I don't think I'd be able to let them go to flower without eating them first.
I never knew that, either. How beautiful! I can feel the rich texture through your photo.
Coincidentally, we're exploring floral photos all week long over at my place: http://writteninc.blogspot.com/2009/04/thematic-photographic-45-floral.html
Hope you can drop by for a look-see.
Good to see you again! Tanya sent me today, and it's always a joy to catch up.
Very nice picture ! I love artichokes ! I ate them for the first time here in Belgium when I was 20 and didn't know what it was. So I looked around to watch the others (it was a very posh family with servants) how they ate this thing. I managed to do the same until I came to the "hairs" which I pulled out and dipped them in the sauce too ! I wondered why they found the "heart" so delicious, I found it rather hairy ! Now I know !!
ACK!!! What a WASTE of a perfectly good artichoke!!! How sad! Well... I mean... I guess they're pretty enough... but I think they are much prettier STEAMED and on my plate!!!
Artichokes are beautiful when they are in flower! I really love eat artichokes too! We have some nice recipes here in South of Francefor exemple: les artichauts en barigoule!!!
That's so cool! I never imagined the blossom of an artichoke. Guess I never occurred to me that they would bloom, don't know why! Wonderful photo and great choice for purple.
