Monastery ruins in Swabia, in Germany's Black Forest region.
Our afternoon wasn't ruined, though. Right next door there was a lovely cafe: just look at this luscious piece of authentic Black Forest Torte, enough for two! What else can you ask for while in the Black Forest? (Sept 08).

Gorgeous! I love ruins like this. What a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice weekend!
Sometimes I think it's easier to imagine the history among the ruins than it is in the recreations, and abbey ruins in particular...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
I think the treat at the end is the best part! This reminds me of a place just outside of Garmische-Parkinkirken... Beautiful! Thanks for the well wishes. :)

ReplyDeleteI am now sitting on the Terasse of the hotel surrounded by palmtrees and a wonderful garden. It's warm 30 ° but with the little wind you don't feel the heat. Internet connection is like home and free ! My mini computer is very nice to use here !
both are delicious - in different ways.
ReplyDeletewe have lots of "ruins" here in Southern California as the wild fires ( ever seen a tame one?) rip across the dry landscape driven by gale force winds.
maybe a thousand homes lost this month, more work for folks like me, i guess. Thank you for your visit and kind comment
