I don't think the water effect was a huge failure. A little sunlight and this photo would dazzle.
NExt time you try for the water effect, ad the water yourself with an eye dropper or a spray bottle. That way you get it where you want it and only as much as you want. You can thank the plant by watering it after.

Those water details are tough! My best are happy accidents when I happen to notice something just right and grab the camera right then. :)
