- I was in Hamburg last week, visiting family and friends
- I did very little shopping as we were flying only with a carry-on each, to avoid the chaotic luggage delivery at the Barcelona airport
- But that means I can only carry 6kg/13 lb
- Lucky me, I could buy a new digital camera, it doesn't weigh much!
- Last Friday I sat with a dear friend in a buffet restaurant downtown Hamburg, overlooking the Alster lake, from 1:30pm until 7 pm! we had a lovely afternoon and hardly noticed how the hours went by, it was dark of all of a sudden! We had lunch, some diet coke and water later on and finally, Kaffee und Kuchen, coffee and cake.
- The restaurant is on the 4th floor of Alsterhaus, a central department store. They only provide a link in German, but the site shows a beautiful night scene of the city.
- This little kid (right pic) was fascinated by the street musicians. He was so cute , I stood there looking at the little guy and listening to the street performance!
- Had to cancel all of Mr Mar's credit cards last tuesday : his wallet was stollen in a Barcelona restaurant as he was having a business lunch.
- The restaurant had those chairs with a round back where you just can't hang your jacket or purse, they are pretty for a home but not practical for a public place. Mr Mar left his jacket hanging at a reasonable distance where he could also keep an eye on it. He was wrong!! the worst part is to get all documents renewed.
- I didn't go to gym class this morning as I wasn't feeling too well, although it is only a little cold, a mild headache, chills... Nothing a couple of hours of extra blogging and good tea cannot cure!
- We could watch a fascinating sunset flying back from Hamburg (taken with the old HP camera) :
- Two pics taken yesterday out in the street with my new camera (click to enlarge) :
- Last, but not least, a gem from my mailbox: the top ten Hubble photographs. After correcting an initial problem with the lens, the Hubble Space Telescope - first launched in 1990- the floating astro-observatory began to relay back to Earth incredible snapshots of the "final frontier" it was perusing. Recently, astronauts voted on the top photographs taken by Hubble, in its 16-year journey so far. You can watch these mesmerizing pictures right here
