I had a very, very happy birthday, thank you very much for asking ! But most of all, thank you very much for the kind birthday wishes, links and e- cards, for taking time on a Sunday to drop by! I am truly overwhelmed because Sundays are normally slow days. It was a happy day despite all the negative visions I had about this birthday but like some of the wise comments indicated: it isn't bad at all!! I survived my own birthday and there were only more wrinkles to spot because I was smiling or laughing the whole time.
The day started with a nice walk with Mr Mar towards lunch time, right here:
This is "our" beach off season, although it was still swimming season yesterday, with a forecast of 24ºC /76ºF and it was hot under the sun. And then we had some tapas which included- starting on the left, clockwise: chipirones (deep fried small baby squid), tallerines (tasty tiny seafood, can't find an adequate translation) and croquetas (ham croquettes). And cava, Spanish champagne, of course. Isn't this the perfect way to start a celebration?? And do you see the tiny black "coin" at the bottom of the pic? It's a champagne cap , yes: I collect them!
Tapas under the perfect Mediterranean shade: a palm tree and an olive tree.
The day and evening were filled with beautiful signs of affection and love, some from far, far away . Even the virtual ones felt very close. Thank you all!

Wow what a nice weather and food to celebrate your birthday ! I remember I celebrated in the Sequoia park in California, and a picture shows me standing under an enormous tree celebrating with a ...... hamburger !! But in the evening we had chinese, lol ! I also survived my son's visit, yes, apparently they never change I told him already how could you find a baby in all this mess ?? Apparently they are all like that even with nearly 35 !! I am not the perfect housewife, but still there are limits ! You see you can do your best to bring them up correctly but for some things it just doesn't work ! Of course I am happy he still feels home !
ReplyDeleteFantastic weather!
ReplyDeleteMrs Lifecruiser mentioned that it was your BD, but my modem died out at the cabin, I am late, but happy belated birthday! Skoal!
I'm so glad you had such a nice day. 2008will be my 40 + 10 birthday and people have already started giving me great grief about it. I look at it this way. It beats the alternative to not having it!
ReplyDeleteThat sound slike a pretty perfect day to me! I am glad you had a good day adn were spoilt like you deserve to be.
ReplyDeleteI always figure that time passing is natural. I can't fight it and I am growing older all the time. So, I always look at birthdays as a bonus. For one day of the year I get presents and people celebrate the fact that I was born. Not a bad excuse for a party if you ask me! :)
As GOOOOOOD as my 50th was... I think I'm jealous! The sand, the tree, and those divine looking little tiny clams... (well - that's what they look like... and I forget what you called them...) YUM! Dare I ask... what kind of cake did you have? (please don't tell me you behaved and had none...)
ReplyDeleteDarn it! I'm so sorry I missed your birthday! I'm glad you had such good day! Happy Belated Birthday!
