home again

I am back, alive and kicking! had an uneventful flight back home, no major delays, no lost luggage, the sun is shining, my plants are greener than green since there was a major storm while I was away and the garden got more water than it could have ever hoped for!

Had a lovely trip and I took 277 pics... it is hard to choose which ones should be posted first, so I decided to show you some of the last pics I took yesterday in Lisbon, when we walked about 8km/5 miles. We were first in Belém, to see the famous Belém Tower, find below a detail of this beautiful tower! Click to enlarge the pics for a better view.

While in Belém we tried the delicious Pastries of Belem at a wonderful traditional bakery founded in 1837 and located not far from the tower, decorated with white and blue tiles.

The custard pastries are served warm and powdered with sugar and cinammon, they are heavenly, can you smell them? The place was absolutely crowded, people waited patiently for a free table, it seemed like the place to go to (not only) on a sunday afternoon with family and friends.

And now the last three pics I took yesterday afternoon. The Atlantic Ocean and the Portuguese sky had a fantastic shade of blue and the afternoon sun was glorious! more to come...

  14. I hope you continue to feel better, Mar. Being sick while away from home really sucks. At least you're home now.

I love the description of those custards. They sound soooo good. Mmmm. And the pictures of Portugal are wonderful. I just want to go there right now!

Michele sent me off to your sunny shores, Mar. Welcome home!

  15. Just checking in to see if you were back: and of course you are! Beautiful pics and bringing back memories of similarly sunny days in Portugal on a long ago holiday... Fortunately I live near Sydney's "Little Portugal" and authentic custard tarts are never too far away!

  26. Yummy! Did you have any thimblefuls of black coffee, standing up and nearly for free? if I remember, it was a "bico" or a "pico" - Lisbon is such a civilized place. Welcome home, in any case.
