Thirteen museums in Barcelona
May 18 - International Museum Day


Today is Museum Day! explained here, it has been celebrated all over the world since 1977 , current conmemoration targets young people with this year's theme "Museum and the Youngster". This is actually a list of museums in/around Barcelona I myself wanted to have, put together in no particular order and leaving quite a few out, because it's a T13!. I am certain no TT participant has the time to check out the listed links, but keep in mind the Dali Museums listed at the bottom... maybe for an eventual virtual visit sometime later on.



01. Picasso Museum
02. Sagrada Familia Temple
03. Joan Miro Foundation
04. MACBA, the Barcelona Contemporary Art Museum
05. MNAC, Museum of National Art
06. Maritime Museum, you know what to expect here!
07. The Botanical Garden
08.Cosmo Caixa, Science Museum plus this one
09. City History Museum
10. Football Club Barcelona also has a museum! hey, they are since yesterday the European champions!


11,12,13: The 3 Salvador Dali museums, which are not in Barcelona but only a click away. It is the most amazing , surrealist visit!

    Wow 13 museums I would be hard pressed to do that TT.

    I love museums. I haven't been to one in a little while. Not since last September when we went to Bisbee, AZ.
    I haven't been to the Art museum in Phoenix either - even after 15 years in the Valley of the Sun.
    Congrats to the soccer team. World Cup is in Germany this year - Yeah. Too bad that I can't watch that often due to the time difference.

    We are lucky to have many museums in Philadelphia as well. My daughter and I are making an effirt to visit the lesser known ones this summer. I was at the Dali museum in Florida. Michele sent me.

    Sweet! I've been to a couple of those sites - the Sagrada Familia is absolutely amazing! I never got to go to any of the Dali museums though. I bet they are all really fascinating.

    And the soccer club may be like a museum, but historically being a member was also a sign of being Catalan during the period when Catalonia was repressed.

    I so want to go to Europe and see the great museums. I have heard though that some of the paintings from the Luvre (sp?) are coming to Atlanta soon, which is only 2 hours away from me. I hope I get to go. My list is up!
