A good friend is celebrating her birthday today, we will be meeting at a restaurant for lunch at 2:30pm (remember: this is Spain! and meals are scheduled rather late!). Happy St George's day! today women get a red rose and men a book... at least in Catalonia. Read all about it here. Happy sunday anyways!
I'd wither away if I had to wait until 2:30 for lunch! ;) Have a nice time.
ReplyDeleteEating rather late is okay if waking up is done late too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday. Spain sounds wonderful to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd rather get a book, and a rose!
ReplyDeleteHave a great lunch, eating late is normal for us to.
ReplyDeleteGetting a rose is a nice tradition.
ReplyDeleteAny day where you get a red rose is a good one!
ReplyDeleteYeh, ok BUT *the foodie is speaking* what did you have for lunch? LOL! Hope you had a good time :o)
ReplyDeleteI really hope the lunch was worth the wait. Is that a typical European phenomenon? 2:30pm is more light a lunch-dinner, or a mid-afternoon snack.
ReplyDeleteI am also kind of wondering if St. George's day is created to sell roses and books. In Japan, there is another version of Valentines day, which occurs on a different date, and mostly women give men presents (only the ones who sent them flowers) in the form of cookies! Cookie sale always soars, it's great for businesses.
Hope your St. George's Day and lunch went well today! I like to hear about traditions from different parts of the world. Thanks for the mini lesson!
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me...
in Denmark we eat lunch at 12 on the dot and are having dinner by 6pm. but when we are in Portugal, it is a totally different story! lunch between 2.30 and 3 and then dinner between 8 and 9, if not later in the summers!!! then of course, you are not hungry for breakfast the next day.... churros con chocolate and coffee of course!!!
ReplyDeleteno sabia que eres Chilena hasta que lei your previous posts. Estamos planeando ir a Los Angeles, Chile para una boda!
Denise - I had a snack at around noon!
ReplyDeletele laquet - I had an avocado salad and fideua...sort of a noodle paella. I only took pictures of the cake.
Jay - lunch at 2:30 pm is a Spanish thing (and Portuguese, as coffe addict tells us!)
coffe addict - thanks for your info :) Can't possibly have chocolate the thick way! maybe the churros with coffee, lol!
Happy St George's Day, my sweet Mar :-)
