cloud nine

Friday morning at 7 am . The clouds were delicately kissed by the early morning sun, the colors were magnificent, it was a beautiful show to wake up to. After that I went into town and had a delightful meet up with Oreneta and Diane (curious minds wanted to know!) We had wonderful male company too, Charlie, with the most gorgeous eyes, and this time I have a snapshot to prove it!

camouflage

This little guy is about 4 cms/1.5 inches "big". He was scared to see me in my own garden. They always move very quickly and it wasn't easy to have his picture taken. To my surprise: he even jumped! I didn't know they could do this, I think he has been watching the squirrels... He was a lovely break while working in the garden, which mainly meant watching Mr Mar cutting and stacking up logs  (from the fallen pine trees in late January) for our fireplace.

clouds and candles

I love to look at clouds to find hidden faces or figures. That's why this one over the Med had my attention this past weekend...

I got this scented candle from a friend, it's actually a Xmas scent  but I haven't been home to enjoy it. This is what was left of it last night, after watching the first episode of "The Mentalist" on German television. Home alone, as Mr Mar is shortly gone on business. This was a soothing sight (and perfume!)

looking up in a little restaurant

The French Alps are the right place to spend Valentine's Day as they love to use hearts for decoration!  I realize the bright sun and snow outside have a rather annoying effect on this picture, it's sort of the way I feel today as I have a dentist appointment  for an implant and removal of the neighbor wisdom tooth... (update: I got to keep the wisdom tooth, but still it wasn't pleasant, ha!) Please be kind to me, even if I don't get around this afternoon!!

It's that time of the month again: full moon. Which attracts me like a magnet!

windy

Despite the wind, it was a lovely Saturday afternoon and we went for a nice walk on the beach.

green visitor

ButtonGenerator.com

My one-year old camera is being repaired... for the second time in one year! I am highly dissapointed, to put it mildly. There is (still) a problem with the shutter because I never know whether or not the camera is going to switch on when I press the button... would have already gone out and bought a regular tiny camera but I love the features mine has...particularly macro and night scenes.

For the time being I am borrowing my son's, old but reliable! it's bulky, otherwise it would be perfect too. And the little green guy decided to wait for me in the garden until I got back out with the camera to get his portrait. He spent a long while sunbathing on top of my blooming euphorbia.

sunset boulevard

Yesterday's sunset was absolutely beautiful. We drove down to watch it from the beach wearing a warm jacket. It was about 15ºC /60ºF, no wind, and the " show" was amazing! I took this picture before we actually sat down to watch the sunset , I don't know this couple, they just happened to walk by, but I was happy the snapshot turned out the way I wanted it.

stormy weekend

home **

It was an unusual stormy and rainy weekend in - otherwise - sunny Spain. This was the view through my window and window decoration...

weekend snapshot...

home **

I was admiring my beautiful amaryllis and playing with my camera at the same time. And although I was looking at that flower, all of a sudden I was seeing a mandrill's face ... so I just had to get some help from the net to find a mandrill picture (thanks for letting me borrow it!) and now please see for yourself. What do you think??

weekend snapshot

home **

Well, I guess I am cheating because this shot is 2 weekends old, taken towards the end of our recent vacation. My camera is being repaired and I haven't taken any new shots with my old camera...This is a beautiful view of French vineyards in the Beaujolais region. More precisely, it is Morgon, great scenery, great wine! We visited a local producer in the area and spent a beautiful day.

The weekend's surprise was that DianeCA and then Dackel Princess graciously awarded me with my first award in Spanish, look at this:

Thank you very, very much, ladies, I am very honored ! However: yours are the true brilliant blogs!!

weekend snapshot : Barceloneta

home **

Barceloneta beach last saturday evening. It is a beach and a neighborhood which can be reached taking the Barcelona metro and it is within walking distance from the Olympic Port, which was our last stop before returning our chartered sailing boat to its own harbor. Vacation is over...tanned and over 250 pictures richer, now it's blog time again!

Luncheon on Saturday. Looking at "our" beach from indoors. The restaurant has a summer terrace right here but it will be set up in a week, when school is out in Spain : only then it is officially summer !

weekend snapshot and the blues

home **

I only had blue in mind this weekend because of the Project Blue! first I could have photographed our friends' entire terrace as it is decorated in blue but I settled for the lovely cup of coffee we enjoyed after a delicious meal on Saturday.

For more blues please visit Anna Carson’s Project Blue

Real life is keeping me busy, the in-laws are here but staying at a beach hotel with friends, and faceb*ok with my private profile has become a fun toy which has allowed me to get in touch with long lost friends, sharing stories and old and new pics. Very time consuming but it's fantastic!

this past weekend I...

This past weekend I spent two days in Valencia, which is a 3-hour drive from Barcelona, going South. I took many pictures but I would have taken many more had the weather been sunny.... Spain has been everything but sunny during the month of May, very unusual for the season but any raindrop has been more than welcomed. While downtown Valencia I saw the building posted on the left (click to enlarge), which was located near the cathedral. I love to look at the details of such rich decorations and I selected the picture below (of the same building) to be my participation in nothing less but three! memes at once, talk about a multiple-purpose shot!

weekend snapshot and the letter z

home **

I wasn't planning a weekend snapshot for this week as I was supposed to spend the weekend in Madrid, coming back late today. But below you see the reason why our trip was postponed: the rain in Spain! which is most welcomed (and needed!) but not as a companion for a trip where we intended to do a lot of walking and sightseeing (plus pictures!), so we'll wait for another time with lots of sunshine.

Z is for zooming in ...

Alphabet Photo Challenge

This is a pelargonium which came with the house, so the plant is at least 15 years old.

Many thanks to Quilly for hosting such a fun and challenging photo meme and to the players for their daily visits to this blog! ...Cheers and count me in for the next event !

weekend snapshot and the letter S

home **

I took a short walk down the hill on Sunday to go get the paper. This is the neighbors' gargoyle (a spout, terminating in a grotesque representation of a human or animal figure with open mouth, projecting from the gutter of a building for throwing rain water clear of a building. Source) . I liked the morning silhouettes but I'd still like to get a sharp macro of that gargoyle with the afternoon sun. Oh, and that's the Mediterranean Sea- another neighbor of mine - in the background.
