Still on Day Two of our 10-day Germany trip with a rental M*ini Cooper, this time admiring the Electoral Palace of Trier, considered one of the loveliest rococo palaces in the world. Today, the Electoral Palace is the seat of the District Supervisory Authorities. A rococo room , with capacity for 190 people, can be rented for conferences. Or a bloggers' meet up...
"The three wings of the palace were built between 1615 and 1756 in a Rococo style that is accented by a peachy-pink paint color against the white plaster details.(...). Since the Palace is a working administrational building, it is rare to gain access to the inside, and so the Garden is the real attraction. The Gardens feature a variety of styles from Baroque to Greco-Roman and are spotted with classical statues." ReplyDeleteI just catched up on your Trier pictures, they are really very interesting I have to go back there !!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous and your photos are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteA working administration building now, but just think...someone's home once! Beautiful building...would fit in S. Florida with that pink exterior :-)
ReplyDeleteI reminds me a little of Versailles.
ReplyDeletean amazing building!
ReplyDeleteLovely. Love the "gold" work around the windows
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
It looks like a wedding cake.
ReplyDeleteA pink castel, I want to live there and see if a can notice some more muscles I didn't notice before, take care, MB
ReplyDeleteThat style has grown on me. I used to find it rather tacky even in famous buildings but the older I get the more I appreciate it for some reason. Great shots Mar.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome looking building. A place fit for a king or queen :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the pink is paint. At first I thought it was brick! The style is very ornate so I bet it's a lot of work to maintain. Beautiful building.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of windows! Wonderful building.

What BEAUTIFUL Windows--in fact, it is a Beautiful Building! I love the shape of those center ones....I feel like I am on this trip with you, Mar, and it's great!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous windows! A glance at the first pic, and I thought, "Those three nearly-oval windows are the ones!" Then you zoomed in on them! Thanks! And...I'm with June. My second thought was, "I imagine the Don Cesar Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida was inspired by this:" http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Hotels/St-Pete-Beach-Resort/Overview.aspx

ReplyDeleteThe style and color are noticeably similar, but, quite obviously, the windows don't even compare. Bye, now.
