a is for aerial

ABC Wednesday: A

An aerial view of the city of Barcelona, thanks to a lucky airplane seat assignment and clear skies last June. In the front the new Hotel*W (Update: that's the actual name of the hotel! more info here)- which was designed by a local architect but looks like the famous Burj-al-Ar*ab hotel in Dubai*- and the Barceloneta beach. The Holy Family Temple  can be seen at about 2 o'clock, the Old Harbour   is also clear to see. The famous  Ramblas are not pictured but you would find them on the left.

  16. Oh my goodness! What an incredible photo! What's the population there? The modern W Hotel looks out of place against the old buildings of the city.

  18. That's a tight fit city, almost like my country, with too many high rise buildings!

  19. What a clear and nice shot out of a plane window, you really were lucky ! I first thought it was googled, lol ! I see that your beach front is as ugly as the Belgian coast and this hideous Burj-al-Ar*ab building is just like chalk and cheese ! It's such a pity to spoil the landscape.
That's why I love the beach sides in England so much, they kept the old Victorian style in all cities at least at the west side.

  22. Somehow, this is not at all what I would have thought Barcelona would look like. It doesn't seem to have much green space, but I know it has amazing architecture in those crowded city streets.
