R is for renovation needed

to prevent further deterioration of this building in Lisbon, Portugal... But somehow I like the tristesse of the shot... Tiles are very often used for façades (click to enlarge).

  1. I had to look up the definition of tristesse. I learned something new tonight. I'd say this needs some renovation. Great photo my friend :)

  2. I agree with you here. Sometimes renovation removes a lot of the feeling of old.

  5. It's such a shame to see such beautiful tiles go to waste like that. It really needs a renovation, despite the beautiful tristesse.

  6. I remember seeing all the tiled buildings in Spain and Portugal. I bought a souvenir one in an Art boutique.. a real one ..not fake. I love it in my kitchen. Renovation back to its original glory would be nice.

  8. From an asthetic view point I don't think it needs renovating. So beautiful. However, I guess they have to do some work or it would deteriorate too much.

  9. Yes, I agree with Carver and this is so beautiful as it is, but at the same time it would be sad to have it deteriorate to the point that it could be lost altogether! Beautiful capture!

    Enjoy!

  18. Its still beautiful, though. It would be nice to keep the same sense of history if the foundation of the walls is strong.
