random is the name of the game

01. I am "thirteening" (love the term!) again this week!
02. Got a postcard (a real one, via snail mail) from a friend this week !
03. Sent a postcard to another friend who had a severe domestic accident and will be in the hospital for a few months... Months!
04. This reminded us of how fragile we are...
05. Mr18 begins college on 8/28
06. I still remember his first day of school!
07. He will be studying in Barcelona and living at home. The Spanish way.
08. Had thunderstorms earlier this week and the temperature is down to pleasant 80ºF
09. I have no heat-wave excuse to avoid exercising...
10. I am reading Mireille Guiliano's "French women don't get fat", finding interesting tips, which I already knew. The problem is: they are so healthy and so rational...
11. Tomorrow is my mom's name day.
12. If your name is Ellen, Helen or similar, it is your name day too!
13. If you think you have a name day but are not sure when,
this is the page to visit!

Update: I have been selected as a featured blog this week at the Hub!! I am flattered! :)

Btw, without being too nosey, what is your son planning to study at university? just curious. I am playing TT today... hehe

  2. Hi, great random thirteen! I love getting postcards too but only get one or two a year but it's nice when I get them :-) I also didn't know about name days so I'll have to check that out.

  3. Snail mail -- when it's not junk or bills -- totally rocks!

Wishes of recovery for your friend...

    My TT is up.

    Happy Thursday!

  4. #3: ouch, sorry to hear that. Hope she has a fast recovery. That is the kind of thing that teach us not to take life for granted...

#9: There is ALWAYS easy to find excuses not to exercise.... *lol*

  5. Oh my gosh! There were no name days found for "Stacy". How horribly devastating! Okay, so maybe it wasn't really all that terrible. [grin] Hmmm, maybe I'll have to try Anastasia, instead.

Sorry to hear about your friend's accident. Hope he/she gets well soon.

    Have a terrific Thursday!

  6. I'll check out both the book and the website.

    Wow...already in college!

Severe domestic accident? I hope she recovers quickly.

  7. french women don't get fat because french food, with the exception of chocolate and bread, is awful. ;)

  8. Great list - a friend is reading the same book and has lost weight!

    My list is up too!

  9. I don't think they have a name day for Maribeth.
You do realize that exercise is a four letter word! LOL!

  10. So sorry about your friend. Mr. 18 off to college..wow, they grow up so quick don't they. I like randomness.

  11. I like your list! I will have to visit the name day link... I've always wondered when my name day is.

    Have a great Thursday!! :)

  12. I saw her on "Oprah" last winter and found all the 'tip' terrific and familiar, in a way. Like you said...it's stuff we all know but don't seem to practice. I do think that walking everywhere if you can is a GREAT way to excersize....(Not that I do that...lol!..I should!)
Mar I am amazed that Englosh is not your first language...I always forget that because your Emglish is fabulous!!! It seems to me it is highly developed and very sophisticated...Do you speak English a lot of the time? And/Or Did you learn English as a very young child? Just interested my dear.
And, boo hoo...no name days for my name. Oh Well, my name is too unusual to ever have anything 'special' like a name day, which is okay...

  13. I love "thirteening" too!

Months in the hospital - I can't imagine. I hope she recuperates well.

Our weather is getting pleasant now, too. If only this weren't followed by very cold weather and snow! Iew!

Congrats, you've been selected as a featured blog this week at the Hub! Enjoy! :)

Hope your friend is doing better!

Good luck to your son! College!!! Big time!

    Happy Thursday my dear Mar!

  15. No name day for me! It's interesting taht "French Women Don't Get Fat" and they eat a lot of fatty sauces. Most Americans are scared to death of it, and we're 60% obese. I personally, love my fat.

    My 13 have fallen overboard.

  16. Thanks for stopping by my garden Mar!

Hummm is there a name day for me? I dunno, hadn't thought about it before.

  17. I like random lists! Great job! I hardly ever get postcards, so cherish those. Name Day? Need to check that out!

  19. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Sending a prayer her way!

How exciting your son studying college in Barcelona! They grow so fast.
It was also around high 80's here in AZ last week with Thunderstorms, but this week it's back up over 100!

Congratulations on being T13 site of the week!!
    Have a great Thursday!

  21. Congrats to your son - hope he does great in college. My daughter has 2 who will be going within the next 2 years (SR & JR this year in HS).

I didn't know there was a Name Day.

    Check out my TT.

  22. Oh, cool. My daughter and husband have name days, but (unsurprisingly) the rest of us don't.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh I miss postcards! It seems like they've fallen by the wayside - along with letters - since email came about. I read that book, too. I'm sure it would work if you just eat less but that's always been my problem - love food and have gotten used to large American portions. sigh

    ReplyDelete
  24. Excellent list! Our TT this week is the 13 favorite games of the Lil' Duck - come check it out! Have a wonderful Thursday ;).

  25. Random thoughts...how did you manage to thin it down to just 13? *laughs* Have a great week. My TT is up and running.

  27. I read that book also and I really liked it. I even tried the magical leek soup. I did it for a whole day and then fell off the wagon.

  28. That must have been a bad accident at home to be hospitalized for that long.
    Great TT!

With email now, I hardly ever send real mail. but I do need to write to my grandbaby and send her a card.

Thank you for stopping by my TT.

  29. Reading #2 I just realized it's been a long time since I got something from a friend in the mail. No postcards. No handwritten letters. Nothing. The internet and email have ruined the excitment of checking the mail. Oh well. Great T13!
