public

is hosted by tnchick on Saturdays

My very private view (with a little help from the built-in zoom) from my terrace of the nearby public  Spanish (Mediterranean) beach. I never get tired of this view.

B is for blooms

                              ABC Wednesday  ¸¸.•*¨*•¸¸.•*¨*•¸¸.•*¨*• Today's Flowers

Not my best ever photographed blooms, but fresh from my garden. This is the lantana I rescued from an impossible place in my garden to be properly potted and taken care of. It would have probably survived where it originally found a place to grow by itself, but now I can enjoy the beautiful blooms  right outside my door. I enjoy how the blooms change color as they mature, which results in different colors in one flower.

summer heights

Skywatch

For the past four years we have enjoyed this kind of French Alps scenery  in July. Not this year. But I found this picture in my archives. Can't figure out what the  pink dot at the bottom left is...it is definitely not a flower nor flip-flops... But the sky  and the Alpine setting are much more interesting to look at!

a is for aerial

ABC Wednesday: A

An aerial view of the city of Barcelona, thanks to a lucky airplane seat assignment and clear skies last June. In the front the new Hotel*W (Update: that's the actual name of the hotel! more info here)- which was designed by a local architect but looks like the famous Burj-al-Ar*ab hotel in Dubai*- and the Barceloneta beach. The Holy Family Temple  can be seen at about 2 o'clock, the Old Harbour   is also clear to see. The famous  Ramblas are not pictured but you would find them on the left.

mandalas on a door

Mellow Yellow Monday

From my archives, I might have posted this door before, it leads to the kitchen of a small restaurant at a tiny French village. It is our lunch stop when we head to the mountains.                                            Participants

Z is for a zoological post and 33 words

We don't have pets and birds are rare and difficult to photograph in my part of the world. A zoological post has been missing here, now it's time  for one:  meet  my husband's girlfriend... she has adopted him and I must admit I kind of like her too. She knows exactly when Mr Mar comes back from work and she shows up  to be fed and admired. She is napping right now , hear her ZZZZZZZ but she still needs a name!

And now for a new meme I found:
Word Pool Wednesday

About Word Pool Wednesday: Every Wednesday morning (GMT) I’ll post three words that relate to a chosen theme, for you to use in a 33-word story. You do not to have to use all three words, but you must use at least one. How you interpret the words and whether you use the chosen theme is up to you. Then place a link to the blog post that contains your story. Why 33? No deep literary reason. Word Pool Wednesday is three words, and there are three words to choose from. Therefore 33.

This week’s three words are: Charity - Donation- Kitty

An old chair was discarded from a room and meant to go on donation, but found a place in the terrace, where it became a kitty's favorite place for a summer nap.

winning colors

Busy times  make it difficult to sit down to blog, that's why this picture is my entry for all of this:

This is one of my two red hibiscus which came with the house ( built in the early 60's), the afternoon sun gives the yellow touches. Red and yellow are the colors of the Spanish flag.  In case you haven't heard (haven't you??) Spain won the World Cup yesterday,  celebrations will continue today as the team returns to Madrid and I imagine the ones from Barcelona arrive here on Tuesday, so there is still soccer fever in the air.

y is for yucca blooms

ABC Wednesday

Yucca blooms are one of my favorites, they are for me a giant version of another favorite flower, Lily of the Valley... The flowers are white, sometimes having a purple tinge, bell-shaped, 3-5 cm long (about 1-2 in) (rarely to 7.5 cm), produced in a compact, bulbous cluster 60-120 cm (24 - 48 in) tall at the top of the stem. Source.   I am reposting this shot from my archives  because the pictured yucca from my garden decided not to bloom this year, therefore I am missing this July sight out of my window...

rooting for the home teams

Detail of a  lei with the colors of the German flag: red, black and yellow.
Red and yellow are the colors of the  Spanish flag.
Quick picture for MacroMonday and Mellow Yellow Monday

The World Cup has kept me busy and  away from blogging. Besides that, my home turned into a youth hostel for the past 10 days hosting college backpackers (either friends' college kids or else friends' kids' friends...), but two at a time at the most. Fun times keeping me away from the computer . On top of all that, the local telephone company reported a major issue which left us without phones and internet for two whole days!  I  was not amused... The World Cup continues but there are only 3 matches left. I am rooting for Germany and Spain, so I will have a tough day on Wednesday when the two teams face each other...more tv days. Did you watch Rafael Nadal win Wimbledon yesterday?? And when the world cup is over, there is still the Tour de France to watch!
