x is for ...

X-shaped stand! which is not found in the dictionary, but since this is not scrabble, I hope it qualifies for this week's X... It is found in our living room for the small barrel of Spanish sherry , it has a diameter of 22 cms / 8.7 inches and  it holds about 10 liters / 2.6 gallons. That should be enough for  the ABC crowd (updated to include everybody !), a small glass is waiting for you...after you leave your comment!

Purple rhododendron blooming in Hamburg (Northern Germany). Picture from early June.

As I already mentioned here before, the World Cup 2010 is keeping me from blogging...on top of that, this week was very friendly as thursday was a local holiday, which was saddened by a tragic train accident in the nearby  train station... just saying, to let my few but dear "regulars" know why it's been so quiet around here.

w is for window

... and trompe l'oeil in Italy (from my archives)

Watching the World Cup, which isn't good for the waistline (and reduces the available time for blogging!! which in turn explains the little elaboration for this entry...)

I'd like to fly like an eagle

Clear skies over the North Sea in Germany. The seagull is on top of a traditional beach chair, which is also pictured in the post below and is profesionally described here. The history is told here.

front yard beauty

Back from Hamburg, where I was greeted in the morning by these two beauties in a pot (name the pink flower, pls!). From the land of palm trees and succulent plants, Northern Germany always amazes me with its colorful and amazing display of beautiful flowers. The rhododendron were all in bloom and all over, it was fantastic.
