O is for...

O is for observation and inspired by Melli, who saw my thursday post and commented that she... " would really like a closer look at those white flowers behind too! They look very different!". She observed not only the purple daisy from my garden, but also the  ones growing in the back. While doing some research ::wink:: I learned that  oh, surprise, their scientific name is : Osteospermum fruticosum... another "o"!  They are also called Whirligig Daisies or Spoon Daisies. These grow wild in my garden and bloom twice a year.  The petals are very unique:

meet my mug

Fun Monday Theme for this week - graciously hosted by Gattina  - inspired me for the first time, so I decided to participate. Yes, for the first time.   Here we go:

What do you drink in the morning, coffee, milk, tea, or something else?
In what do you drink ?A cup or a mug or a bowl ? Please show us a picture !

 Fun Monday @ Gattina

First thing in the morning I need cold OJ. Not fresh, can't digest healthy things. And then I move on to black coffee. And to milk coffee, black tea, and more black coffee during the day, but that's another story. I have several favorite mugs but this one is MY mug, which I brought with me to Spain 17 years ago and it was my office mug in Germany , so it is about 20  years old...  In case you didn't know, I am a Libra, which is "Waage" in German.  I normally drink my morning coffee indoors but the terrace was a better place for a picture.
Update: the numbers indicate the Libra dates, German style (DD.MM), meaning: 9/24 - 10/23.

n is for numismatic

While numismatists are often characterized as students or collectors of coins, the discipline also includes the broader study of money and other payment media used to resolve debts and the exchange of goods. Source.

Here's an old French coin I bought at a flea market last summer for less than 1 euro (just for fun, I am not a numismatic...)  The background is a 20-euro bill.

m is for more

More from the Maccabean Chapel inside the Cathedral in Geneva (see my post below for even more!)

looking up

Inside the Cathedral of St. Peter in Geneva (where John Calvin gave his inspiring sermons during the mid-16th century, the internet told me this after my trip...) there is also a chapel. Here you see a  detail of the ceiling of the 14th-century Gothic Chapel of the Maccabees, which was used as a warehouse and then a lecture hall after the Reformation, but in 1878, it was reconsecrated and richly decorated.
Pictures of the chapel from the net can be seen here

flower clock

Many tourists were queueing in front of Geneva's flower clock to have their picture taken and I didn't want to wait, that explains my side shot...it looked very beautiful anyways. It was a fantastic Spring day (last Tuesday).

The old blogger -together with her old and traditional identity!!- is back from Geneva, among other places, where I saw this broken chair again, in front of the UN building. It symbolizes opposition to land mines and cluster bombs...
