look: no picture!

I have been away from blogging  as I don't have access to my pc nor to my pics of the past two years...thanks to a mean virus which fooled my antivirus software and no, I hadn't made safety copies of those pictures...oh, well. Hoping to get everything back by the end of next week. In the meantime, I am using an old laptop, but not having my own pc feels like I am disconnected...which I am not, but that's the way it feels.

And I have used blogging time to do some cleaning around the house. There is a productive side to those pc infections! sorted out bed linen, my closet, my shoes. Bonus: I had time to look at my calendar. And I booked a trip to the US in August to attend a wedding in Ann Arbor. Non-blogging related!  it's been a positive little break after all.

UPDATE after the 10th comment: I will be on forced blogging hiatus, as my pc caught a mean virus and my technical help will be available next week... I am going to miss you...wish me luck!!

cuddly

is hosted by tnchick on Saturdays

It is a cuddly photohunt  this week! I found this shot in my archives, and it wasn't taken at a toy store. This is part of a restaurant's decoration, where we had lunch while skiing in the French Alps last Easter. The place was full  of  cuddly teddy bears!!

e is for elevation

ABC Wednesday
el·e·va·tion  n. 6. The height of a thing above a reference level; altitude.

The Montjuic Communications Tower (Torre Telefónica) is a telecommunication tower in the Montjuïc neighborhood of Barcelona, Spain. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, construction on the tower began in 1989 and was completed in 1992. The white tower was built for Telefónica to transmit television coverage of the 1992 Summer Olympics Games in Barcelona. The 136 m (446 ft) tower is located in the Olympic park, and represents an athlete holding the Olympic Flame. Source: the wiki.

We arrived in Barcelona the year after the Summer Olympics for 3-5 yrs...we are still happily living here! This is an early January shot, showing the glorious winter sun in the Med, only this year we haven't had much sun. I know I shouldn't complain, though!
I am busy nowadays (see prior post, thanks for the get-well wishes) but I will do my best to spread the comment cheer!!

the nurse is IN

Condo reception,  French Alps

Had to take my Valentine to the ER yesterday as he has a corneal abrasion,  a side effect of the hibiscus' trimming undertaken on Saturday... My Valentine got a large white eye patch, which is to be removed today. So I am almost on my way to the ER again . He has done well, no pain, thanks for asking. He will be home for the next couple of days as  he has to rest. I will be back shortly!

D is for Detail

Detail of a terracotta soldier, part of the hall decoration, which is shown below. The actual terracotta figures , dating from 210 BC, are life-like and life-sized. They vary in height, uniform and hairstyle in accordance with rank .They were discovered in 1974 in China by some local farmers drilling for water near the Mausouleum of the First Qin Emperor (which my friend actually visited and it seems to be more than impressive). The figures are supposed to protect Qin Shihuang, who ruled from 221 BC to 210 BC, in the afterlife...

Seen in Santiago, Chile. I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the exhibition itself...so I did , but without a flash...

photo hunt: average

is hosted by tnchick on Saturdays.

I met this guy with average looks while on vacation... Average number of daily posts for the past weeks has been zero, nada (see prior sentence), that should be changed from now on.

Jet lag rules my current days (and nights!!) Got back yesterday and , thanks to the time difference, I lost a whole night sleep somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. Spent three wonderful and  summerly  weeks with family and friends, my camera mainly served the purpose of treasuring those moments so the bulk of the shots I took  will remain part of my private collection. The one above was in a museum shop...where I went to visit the Terracotta Army Exhibition.  In Santiago, Chile. Nice to see you visiting this blog again!
