a (very) short update

Thanks for dropping by while I am away. You might be thinking like my dear blogfriend ECL, who left the following comment:

And you are not sharing your adventures and happiness.*waits for photos and new post* Unquote
I am very sorry about this, but my sister's antivirus makes the whole process so slow that it isn't any fun... so I decided to wait until I get back to blog again. And now please excuse me, but I have to go!!

seat with a view

These are shots from the Andes in the summertime, from a prior trip and from the plane, but the mountains still look the same!! The highest one is the Aconcagua with an elevation of 6,962 m (22,841 ft), which is also the highest mountain outside Asia. I got to clearly see it this time since I was seated on the right side of the plane...! I am busy, busy, and having a grand time. Thanks for asking !

all my bags are packed

Tonight I am flying to Santiago, Chile for three weeks, expecting to enjoy summertime and all of the above: 1) view of the Manquehue hill from my sister's flat. 2) pisco sour, is it cocktail hour yet?? 3) empanadas! simply delicious with pino filling, consisting traditionally of beef, onions, raisins, black olives, and hard boiled eggs. 4) mighty bougainvilleas. 5) the view of Santiago with the majestic Andes in the background, and last, but not least: 6) my parents' street, where I grew up. I left 24 years ago as a newly wed, so I have actually spent half of my life abroad but it still represents my roots.

I will be spending precious time with family and friends, which means a substantial reduction of my blogging time. I will most likely be posting pictures and while commenting and visiting is not on my agenda for obvious reasons, I will drop by whenever jet lag hits me and I am wide awake in the middle of the night I can. Hope to see you around!

It's that time of the month again: full moon. Which attracts me like a magnet!

purple rain

When I first read that the color for this week was purple, I felt kind of lost since I don't have anything purple! or so I thought... Then I turned around and,  oh, surprise: there was purple in the house and I didn't have to go out for the challenge. A few items, so I opted for a small collage.

1. from my champagne caps collection: grapes 2. I got a purple Xmas card !!
3. a purple bottle. 4. a purple envelope, all the way from Denmark. 5. Boldo tea bags.

from my white album...

I spent the past two weeks skiing in the French Alps, admiring the beautiful Mont Blanc , which you can see here, the highest peak in the horizon. This shot was taken right after getting off a chairlift.  I can't get enough of these majestic mountains, particularly with clear skies and sunshine.  It's not only because I live by the sea, but because I grew up having the Andes as a reference point, no matter where I stood...

The one in the red ski pants is my son, Mr Mar is next to him with the red/white hat, filming as I take pictures. Another red hat hurried from the right to be included in the picture as well!

Children are our hope
A picture from my archives, which I have already published here...

Happy 2009! This is my first post for the year and it seems just right to begin my fourth year of blogging (where did the time go??) with hope. Hope the new year brings you all much health, happiness, love and peace. I am still on vacation and while I was outdoors much, I was hardly out taking pics this time.  Of course I sighted the best pictures while skiing down a hill wearing all my winter gear, which made taking a snapshot rather difficult...

Our holiday is almost over and  we will be driving home when this scheduled post is published. I will,  therefore, most likely be rather late visiting and commenting  but count me in!

Footnote: today is our 24th wedding anniversary. Cheers!
