neighborhood update

This happened in our neighborhood over Easter. A truck driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed against this wall. Notice this is a hill, so there is a driveway down to a house behind the wall, parallel to the street! I was told the truck had one side literally in the air, how scary. Fortunately, nobody got hurt. This is a quiet residential area and I still cannot understand how this ever happened.

I had only seen it driving by, we went for a walk yesterday so that I could see all the damage. With insurances involved, I wonder how long it is going to take until they can settle an agreement so that this can be repaired. I don't think it is appropiately secured, it is a dangerous spot considering that this street does NOT have street lights, only the neighbors' lights. Nothing exciting going on elsewhere, that's why this deserved to be posted :)

  3. I'm very sure he was driving very fast. These are people who have no concern for other people's lives.

  7. can't quite figure out how a truck could be speeding in a residential area! he must have been driving like a total maniac. do you know if he was caught, this truck driver? in my opinion, careless drivers should spend some time in prison to reflect and calm down before they are let lose in the streets again. Don't know how the law is in Spain, but would his driving license be revoked? it must have been quite the shock for the people living in that house! i don't know, i get very passionate about this subject of bad driving, because 70% of the time people get killed on the road or bypasser because people are not thinking when they drive.
Sorry Mar, the coffee might not be ready for a long while. Not inspired these days... humph... que hago?

  8. coffee addict - I have no idea what happened to the driver. But it wouln't surprise me if he was still in posession of his driver's license...terrible, huh? I agree with you, too many innocent people get killed because of careless drivers... Go to the store and get a couple of new coffee brands :) I just read this somewhere: Make coffee, not war!

  11. That's awful. Those big trucks really scare me, you never know what they're going to do. And in a residential area too. It could have been so much worse.

  17. I think for safety sake someone needs to install street lights. I certainly would avoid walking in that area, particularly at night.

  18. Man that does look bad. We just had a car roll 1 1/2 times a few feet from my drive way. The teenage girl said she just lost control of the car...not sure how that happened since it is a straight road. Sometimes crazy things happen even on the quite streets!
